SITTNINGS

The highlight of our terms! The sittning has its roots in the traditional Swedish/Finnish dinner party, and is an event which includes a three-course menu, traditional games as well as new and old Nordic songs, such as Helan Går and Fader Abraham. The event is held every term and is open to both members and non-members.

The AMBASSADORS’ DINNER

This dinner is an exclusive members only annual formal dinner held with the Oxford University Scandinavian Society and the Nordic ambassadors to the UK. It gives members the opportunity to expand their network, connect with key figures in Nordic foreign affairs, and enjoy a cosy night with friends (and foes).

Swaps

While the society aims to bring together Scandinavian students, we also enjoy mingling with students of other nationalities. Therefore, ScanSoc makes sure to host events in collaboration with other societies, such as our Midsummer en Blanc with the Cambridge University German Society.

CELEBRATIONS

When being away from the Nordic countries during Cambridge terms, it is important not to forget traditional, Nordic celebrations. ScanSoc therefore hosts events to honour important days such as the Norwegian Constitution Day, Fastelavn and Midsummer. .
